I Was A Top Dermatologist For Over 40 Years And Tested Dozens Of Peptide Skincare Products - These Are The Only Ones That Reduce Wrinkles & Sagging Skin.

By Dr. Elisabeth Draper, MD Dermatology

Latest Update:

Has your confidence been taking a hit from wrinkles and sagging skin?

Have you hundreds or maybe thousands of your hard earned dollars in hopes of looking like you did 5, 10, or even 15 years ago?

You might have been missing one important thing - Peptides.

Peptides are quickly becoming the gold standard for transforming even the most aged skin to youthful wrinkle-free complexions.

I’ve worked in skincare for over 40 years. As a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in both cosmetic and medical dermatology.

And the discovery of peptides has been the single biggest game-changer I have seen yet in achieving truly transformative results without any needles, or painful procedures.

In fact, more skincare specialists are recommending topical peptides as an alternative to Fillers and Botox to their patients with mature skin than ever before.

But, which peptide is the most effective? Matrixyl 3000? Argireline?

And where can you get the best quality peptides for the best price?

It's crucial to choose a formula that's not only made with peptides, but that is potent, well-formulated, and devoid of harmful additives. With so many peptide products on the market, finding the right one can be both expensive and daunting

After testing numerous brands—from luxury to niche—I'm excited to share five peptide-based skin products that really deliver on their promises, offering visible and lasting results.

While there are some good options below, make sure to take special note of my number one choice (you’ll see why below)...

#1 South Beach Skin Lab - Repair & Release Cream

If you’re looking for the holy grail of peptide skincare, you’ve found it!

I first came across the Repair & Release Cream after having dinner with a sorority sister from college. Her skin was looking better than ever and I demanded to know what she had done.

Made with a blend of some of the most potent anti-aging peptides, she said the only change to her routine was this product.

It’s been two years since her recommendation, and I attribute it to reversing some of the most stubborn signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging in my 67- year-old skin.

So what makes the Repair & Release Cream better than any other peptide product I’ve tried before?

The Repair & Release Cream includes two of the most potent peptides, Argireline and Matrixyl Synthe ‘6, which on their own are incredibly powerful. However, they’ve taken it a step further blending peptide compound Snap-8 into the mix.

This potent blend signals your body at the cellular level to produce more collagen, aka the “Youth Protein” creating a botox-like effect on the skin that instantly plumps wrinkles.

In addition to the peptides, the Repair & Release Cream provides deep hydration thanks to Shea Butter, Squalane, and Coconut Oil which include much-needed antioxidants.

Not only will you notice an extreme lifting effect on the skin, but it showed an impressive 184% improvement in sagging skin vs. other peptide products I tested.

This cream takes the #1 spot on my list, but it’s also the only product in my routine I truly couldn’t live without. Plus it’s saved me thousands of dollars on Botox appointments!

You can get the Repair & Release Cream for as little as $39, making it one of the most affordable options on the entire list!

#2 Lancôme Rénergie H.P.N. 300-Peptide
Anti-Aging Cream

My second favorite is this Lancôme Rénergie H.P.N. 300-Peptide Anti-Aging Cream, promising to contain 300 different peptides to heal and regenerate skin.

Lancôme is a reputable brand known for skincare innovations and high-quality products, and this luxuriously textured cream is no exception.

Trying this cream, I enjoyed the creamy texture that slid nicely on my skin. While I noticed some skin texture improvement, I didn’t see a major difference in my sagging and wrinkles as I did with my #1 choice, the Repair & Release Cream.

I recommend this Lancôme Peptide Cream for intensive hydration, which can help plump the skin and add radiance.

While this formulation does boast a ton of peptides, it’s important to note that made of them are only in very small amounts, leaving something to be desired about the potency of this cream.

For the $100+ price point, I expected a higher potency and a much larger jar. Overall, if you can afford it then it’s a great second-choice peptide solution!

#3 Paula's Choice Pro-Collagen Multi-Peptide

My next suggestion is a brand many of you may recognize. The Paula's Choice Pro-Collagen Multi-Peptide claims it visibly lifts and firms skin, smoothing the appearance of wrinkles in 15 minutes.

I tested this product for 3 months and while I cannot say much about their 15-minute claim (remember, real results don’t come that quickly!), I did notice some improvements in my sagging skin by the end of the testing period.

This is a lightweight serum that is applied with a dropper and has a skily gel-feel going on making it calming for sensitive skin.

This is a great serum! It does what it promises but the downside: it smells absolutely horrible to me, like rotten peaches. The smell lingers and unfortunately, I can't handle it.

If you’re not sensitive to fragrance, it can make a good option for your routine.

#4Estée Lauder Resilience Multi-Effect Tri-Peptide Face and Neck Crème

This #4 choice is by one of the biggest beauty brands in skincare, Estee Lauder. They own most of the skincare industry and have been around for decades, with some questionable practices in their past.

This Tri-Peptide blend boasts peptides like Argireline, Syn-Hycan, and Progeline along with many hydrating ingredients. Formulated for both the neck and face, I found this cream to be decadent and hydrating.

During my testing, I did notice an improvement in my wrinkles, but I cannot say as much for my sagging skin.

While I’m happy with the softening of my wrinkles, beware of this product if you wear makeup daily.

When applying my makeup on top of this product, I did find it would pill quite a bit, making it a more suitable choice for nighttime, or for those who do not wear face makeup daily.

#5Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum

The second serum on this list and my last and final choice has to be the Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum because it’s a very simple addition to your existing routine.

The formulation only has one peptide, Carnosine Dipeptide, which helps to boost collagen for younger skin.

After testing this product, I really did enjoy using it but the overall improvement was less than the other choices on this list.

I would still recommend this because it’s got a lot of other beneficial ingredients like jasmine, rosemary, and sunflower oils - but for wrinkles, it’s not quite as powerful as other options.

With a hefty serum price tag of almost $90 , it would be a great addition to one of the creams above (if you can afford it).
